Over the last 6 years, Ontario North Consulting (ONC) has had the privilege of working closely with Northern Truss, a locally owned and operated company that designs and manufactures roof trusses, floor systems, wall panels, sheds, laminated veneer lumber (LVL) beams, hangers, and custom wood projects. The company started out servicing clients situated along the Highway 11 corridor between Hearst and Cochrane, and has extended its reach into Timmins, Greenstone, Northwestern Quebec, the Temiskaming region, and southern Ontario. Northern Truss has been able to increase sales and clients by providing a superior product line and building solutions to its existing customer base and seizing opportunities within its existing market.
ONC has worked with Northern Truss on a number of different projects that have increased their productivity and allowed them to modernize their operation. Taking the time to understand the needs and direction of the business we worked with Northern Truss on two (2) major modernization / expansions projects totaling over $2.5M. We navigated through various findings programs and provided government relations services to Northern Truss. We secured funding of $1.2M for the company. These modernization projects helped to increase sales by more than 200% and are expected to increase a further 400% by 2020.

As Northern Truss was expanding, ONC also worked to update their digital presence as well as integrating online business tools. The current website was recently redesigned by ONC and part of that redesign was the ability to secure the funding to redevelop, redesign and launch a modern website that tells the story of the business, its success and professional expertise.
Northern Truss is an example of how businesses benefit and grow successfully with the help of outside expert professionals. Our extensive experience with government agencies and knowledge of funding options for small business connect our clients with opportunities that they may not have known were available to them. A key component of our firm is government relations, grant writing and garnering government funding where available. These pieces of our turnkey business solutions increase the ability of our clients to change the growth of their business.
To recognize its impact on the community, Northern Truss was named Business of the Year in 2014 by the Kapuskasing and District Chamber of Commerce and Business of the Year in 2016 (1-15 employees) at the Northern Ontario Business Awards.
